Haitian Creole is sometimes called French Creole, which can be applied to several types of creole based on the French language, such as Louisiana French Creole Patois. Haitian Creole is also not to be confused with Haitian French, which is a variety of French spoken in Haiti.

Haitian Creole (Kreyòl ayisyen) is spoken in Haiti by 7 million people. It's also spoken in the Bahamas, Canada, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, France, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico, and the U.S.
The largest Haitian communities in North America are found in Florida, New York, Boston, New Jersey and Montréal.
